Are Europeans cowards? Why is self-defense illegal & taboo in Europe? Why won't America adopt Gun Control? Why do Americans & Europeans have such different values? Responding to WhatIfAltHist on Anxiety, Europe & Harm. - If you want to talk about gun control, please comment on
Honestly man, great stuff! The real problem for the liberals is always fear; the liberal media is always playing on fear to get us to support all kinds of nonsense including gun control, raising age limits, restricting teens more, and so forth.
The promotion of an immature/defective brain in youngsters, especially those labeled ADHD or autism, is really just a scare tactic to get parents to be overprotective and coddle their kids. The ultimate goal is totalitarianism and I cannot understand why NOBODY (almost nobody) gets it.
The real issue is when they want to infantilize the young and this really irks me. I am nearly 22 years old and I really hate this; I love young women as you can probably see from my posts (I will caution you that I DO have many graphic photos and I will urge you to be careful). I love watching birth and I love how beautiful young women are.
Yet, why is that we are constantly bombarded with BS that young people under 25 are incompetent?
And I especially liked how you pointed out that MANY COUNTRIES have gun laws much more relaxed than Germany, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and Japan, but the anti-gun media and politicians keep talking about those nations.
They NEVER talk about Switzerland, which allows private ownership of SBRs, suppressors, magazines of ANY SIZE, and full autos.
They NEVER talk about Austria, which, despite licensing for handguns and semi-autos, allows modern long guns (bolt-action) without permits.
They NEVER talk about the Czech Republic which allows self-defense as a reason for ownership and semi-auto centerfire rifles, as well as magazines of any capacity.
They NEVER talk about Liechtenstein, which has Swiss-style gun laws.
And they also NEVER talk about the fact that countless US states have extremely permissive gun laws (no licensing, registration, magazine capacity limits, or assault weapon bans) and yet, their homicide rates are MUCH LOWER than Canada, or at least many Canadian provinces, despite the fact that Canada has extremely difficult licensing procedures, magazine capacity restrictions, and bans handguns and many common models (AR, AK, and so forth).
Examples include Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Minnesota, the Dakotas, Montana, and Idaho. They border Canada but have homicide rates equal to or LESS THAN that of many Canadian provinces (Canadian gun laws are all federal-based; provinces cannot make their own gun laws). And even Washington State and New York State have much more relaxed gun laws than Canada, with concealed carry being legal and with no license require for purchasing long guns. Their homicide rates are equal to or less than many Canadian provinces.
The truth is that the media is all one-sided. Gun control was never about safety but always about tyranny.
Very good points, and the real problem is that the Commonwealth and Europeans are heavily urbanized. They are packed together in large cities, which is why with few exceptions, most of these countries heavily restrict or prohibit private firearm ownership and self-defense. The only exceptions are perhaps Switzerland, the Czech Republic, and perhaps Estonia, Austria, and a few other nations may be relatively relaxed in such matters.
We are fortunate to live in America, and the fact is that although you listed several European countries which have shall-issue licenses to own semi-automatic centerfire rifles, the reality is that most of them do not accept self-defense as a legitimate reason for ownership and you have to store your firearms in a way that makes them difficult to use for defensive purposes.
